Welcome to Euroband Associates!   Our mission is to offer free and impartial advice to those seeking gastric banding and other weight-loss surgery within the UK and EU.

We are happy to suggest details of surgeons who have a proven track record in bariatric surgery and excellent aftercare. Carefully consider the follow up costs and commitment of your caregiver. This is essential in the case of gastric banding, Roux-en Y bypass and duodenal switch. Generally we recommend remaining in the UK so that you can access our team and all to advantages of robust follow up care. An EU operation may appear to be very economical but you may have difficulty accessing UK care if you develop problems in the future. If the cost is vastly cheap compared to similar surgeons, there are probably minimal tests included-tests which other surgeons may consider important safety features.

Banding is not appropriate for everyone and all surgeons carefully consider each person as an individual to ensure that they are offered the appropriate operation or alternative. Do not rush into the decision for surgery. The decision to be slim is powerful but you may not be ready to tolerate the inevitable changes to your eating. As with plastic surgery, be very cautious if you see advertisements for surgery in magazines.  Also be warned of gushing  posts on support groups from grateful patients who may be paid to promote or may even be the surgeon themselves! Most good surgeons just require their reputations and do not need to advertise although most practitioners now have websites to facilitate patient contact and information. 

We believe that the NHS route should be the preferred choice for people meeting clinical criteria for surgery. This route should always be the first step before considering travel overseas.
