There are many banding related support groups. Some focus on geographical location whilst others are specific to the choice of surgeon, device or country of surgery.
 
Find a group that meets your own needs. Try not to join too many or you may receive conflicting advice due to local information which may not relate to your personal circumstances.     
 
Be aware that internet support group posts may simply contain descriptions of the personal opinions and experiences of the authors. Your circumstances and experiences may be quite different.  Information found through these groups or the internet is no substitute for the advice of an experienced banding surgeon.
 
Be cautious that the internet is a large and unregulated zone. Most people on support groups are decent people purely looking to receive and offer support. Always be mindful that some posters may have financial incentives to post or may be affiliated with companies or surgeons. In this case, their advice (whilst good) may not be impartial and may be linked to commercial incentives.  Do your homework. Check costs for surgery and any follow up packages offered. Do not post too many personal details unless you are very sure of who exactly will read them.
